Lazy Jane is a country music duo delivering a unique edgy take on the genre with its soaring melodies, fierce guitar playing, and impressive vocal blend. It was formed in the summer of 2016 by the now husband and wife pair of Madison and Tristen Smith after fans of their pre-duo solo careers demanded to see the two perform together. Madison and Tristen arranged a few shows and had not only great feedback, but the most fun they ever had performing. They had each other, but what about a name?
Drawing inspiration from a poem in Shel Silverstein’s Where the Sidewalk Ends, the pair loved the idea of having a name that seemed a little ironic given the energetic dynamic of their shows. With a name and sound, it was time to hit the road.
In its short history, Lazy Jane has performed shows from Portland, Oregon to Clifden, Ireland. They’ve played the corners of living rooms, in dive bars, and have shared the stage with country music’s brightest stars at various concerts and festivals. Best of all, they have gotten to meet new friends along the way at every show. Some friendships grow into something bigger.
In the spring of 2019, Lazy Jane signed a record deal with Stepside Records, a new label based out of Nashville, TN that was founded by the highly accomplished pair of Derek George and Julian King. They quickly got to work writing and recording new music with the duo’s first release under the label debuting in November of that year.
Their new single “Pretty Drifter” is now available on all streaming platforms
